Many years ago, the late “Siavash Bashiri” published an article in the form an open letter to “Ali-asghar Haj Sayed Javadi”, in which he used a memorable line which will forever be etched in history. Bashiri wrote: “Mr. Haj Sayed Javadi, I owe you an apology for having previously called you a traitor. You are not a traitor. You are an idiot!”.
Watching the clip of Mr. Masali’s interview, one may be tempted to say the same to him. A man with such a squalid history, a man who openly boasts about having been associated with international terrorists (unless George Habash has also won the Nobel peace prize that we are not aware of!), a man who readily admits having been used as a tool by terrorist organizations, a man who has no shame, no honor, no dignity,…and one who either does not seem to understand (or care about) the magnitude of his self aggrandizement, can only be called an idiot, or perhaps insane.
Instances like this raise larger questions though. Why would such personalities still deserve and get such prominent coverage? What else does one have to have done to finally be dismissed from dignified dialogue?
Furthermore, if Masali is still being listened to (and generating no more than a yawn from most Iranians and victims of the “revolution”), what adjective is fitting of the “Iranian people” for allowing this nonsense to continue?
Lastly, what was SAVAK supposed to do with individuals like Masali, or worse, such as Hamid Ashraf, or Bijan Jazani,…etc?
It is time to admit and accept that the “cultural war” to settle the past history of Iran (specifically, the 2nd Pahlavi era) has been lost and the good guys lost….
Next time don't post anonymously so that I know who the "we" is. And mind your language too.
