Iranians denounce the Islamic Republic; United Nations, 23 September 2009
On Wednesday September 23rd, 2009, on the occasion of the visit by president of the Islamic Republic, Ahmadinejad, to the UN, thousands of Iranians, united under the Lion & the Sun flag, the Iranian national flag before the 1979 Islamist Reaction, and the cry of “Down with the Islamic Republic”, gathered in and around Dag Hammarskjold Plaza to denounce the Islamic puppet regime that has ruled Iran since 1979. US local and national media, as usual, keen to portray the Islamist regime as overall legitimate and “Iranian”, falsely characterized the protests as “against Ahmadinejad” (that is, against a single figure head!), explicitly describing the participants as supporters of the “reformist” factions of the Islamic regime and announced the number of demonstrators as “several hundred”.
