Reza Shah Pahlavi-Birthday
By 1950…a resolution of the Majles had awarded the late Shah the title of “Great”, and in March of that year his body was brought from Cairo, where it had been temporarily housed, and interred with great ceremony in a marble mausoleum in the south of Tehran, whose solid, austere lines mirror well the character of the man who almost single-handed changed the course of his country’s history, dragged it from its medieval slough, and hurled it into the twentieth century. Whatever the subsequent achievements of Iran, however great her future, her people can never forget the ruler who by his personality and single-minded determination laid the foundations that made all the rest possible.
