Monarchies and Democracy
Monarchies and Democracy
The Economist Intelligence Unit’s index of democracy (PDF)
The study finds Sweden, Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Luxembourg, and Spain, all Monarchies, more "democratic" than than the United States.
As to Iran, whose "intellectuals" are still fighting the Pahlavis, it is ranked all the way UP, next to Sudan and Swaziland.
But don't be discouraged, my dears. With another 50 years of US-EU-backed "reforms", and considering the reassurance that Pahlavism is dead, there's a good possibility that our proud "independent" republic (that is, whatever is left of what we now call Iran) will find itself ranked between Rwanda and Burkina Faso.
Insha'allah!
